Free AI Visibility Assessment: Your Brand vs Two Competitors
You give me your website, two competitors and the questions your buyers ask. I run 10 of those prompts by hand in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, record who gets named or cited, and check whether AI crawlers can reach your site and whether your entity data agrees with itself. You get a written snapshot within 4 working days. AI answers change from one run to the next, so this is a measured sample, not a promise of citations.

A free snapshot, not the full AI visibility audit
This assessment answers one narrow question: for 10 prompts your buyers really type, does an AI assistant mention you, your two competitors, or neither? It is deliberately smaller than my paid AI visibility audit, which covers a full category prompt set, more assistants including Copilot, and a complete fix list.
It also stays away from the work my other audits do. The AI search audit assesses your whole site's readiness for AI retrieval, the AEO audit tests answer extractability page by page, and the GEO audit scores citation-readiness signals in depth. My free SEO audit looks at classic rankings. Here I only touch crawler access, entity data and three pages, enough to explain the prompt results.
What I ask you for
- Your website and business name exactly as customers know it.
- Two competitors you lose deals to. Not the biggest brand in India, the ones your buyers actually compare you with.
- Five to ten questions customers ask before buying. I turn them into 10 test prompts and send the list back for your approval before testing.
- Your market: a city, a state, or all of India, because answers change with location.
- Your Google Business Profile link, if you have one.
Form fields: name, business, website, competitor 1, competitor 2, market, the buyer questions, and a phone or WhatsApp number.
How I test the prompts
Each of the 10 prompts is run twice in each assistant, on two different days, in a fresh session without my history, with the location set to your market. Running twice matters: generative answers vary from run to run, and a brand that appears once in two runs is in a different position from one that appears in both.
| Surface | What I record |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT (with search) | Brands named, links cited, how you are described |
| Perplexity | Sources cited and whether your domain is one of them |
| Gemini | Brands named and any factual errors about you |
| Google AI Overviews / AI Mode | Whether an AI answer appears at all, and which sites it links |
For each run I note one of four outcomes for you and each competitor: cited with a link, named without a link, described incorrectly, or absent.
The technical and entity checks behind the results
Crawler access (robots.txt and firewall)
- OAI-SearchBot: OpenAI's crawler for ChatGPT search results. Blocking it keeps you out of ChatGPT's cited sources.
- PerplexityBot: the crawler Perplexity uses to index pages for its answers.
- Claude-SearchBot: Anthropic's crawler for search results in Claude.
- Google-Extended: not a crawler but a robots.txt token. It controls whether Google may use your content for Gemini models and grounding. Google states it does not affect inclusion in Google Search, and AI Overviews follow normal Googlebot rules. Many sites block it believing it hides them from AI Overviews; it does not.
- Whether a CDN or security plugin blocks these bots even when robots.txt allows them.
Entity consistency
- Business name, address, phone and description on your site, Google Business Profile and LinkedIn
- Organization schema with sameAs links, and whether those links work
- Whether a Wikidata item exists and matches your site, or conflicts with it
Content citability (3 pages)
- Is the answer to the buyer question stated in the first lines under a clear heading
- Are prices, locations and service facts in plain text rather than images
- Is there anything original, such as your own data or a named result, worth citing
What the written snapshot contains
I have no redacted client sample to show yet, so this is the structure of the document you receive.
Prompt grid
10 prompts by 4 surfaces by 2 runs, showing cited, named, wrong or absent for you and both competitors.
Competitor sources
The pages the assistants cited when they named a competitor, so you can see what they are drawing on.
Crawler and entity table
Allowed or blocked for each bot, plus every place your name, phone or description does not match.
Five fixes in order
The changes most likely to matter first, with which ones you can do yourself.
Who should skip this
- Anyone wanting a guarantee of being cited. AI answers vary between runs and models, and no one controls them.
- Websites launched in the last few weeks. There is usually too little on the web about you for a fair test.
- Businesses that want the full category prompt set or Copilot coverage; that is the paid AI visibility audit.
- Anyone after implementation. This is a diagnosis; the ongoing AI visibility service is separate.
