Free Competitor Analysis: You Side by Side With Up to 3 Rivals
When a competitor keeps getting the calls you should be getting, this comparison shows where they are ahead. I put your business next to up to three competitors across six areas: the keywords you both want, the pages you each have, links, Google Business Profile, whether they run Google Ads, and who AI assistants name. The side-by-side table and my notes reach you within 5 working days. Send me your website and the names of your competitors to begin.

Breadth across rivals, not depth on your own site
Every other free review I offer looks at you. The free SEO audit examines your website, the free local SEO audit goes deep on your Maps presence, the free Google Ads audit opens your ad account, and the free AI visibility assessment tests prompts in detail. This one looks outward. It covers six areas at a shallower level so you can see, on one page, where each competitor is winning.
If one area clearly stands out, say the competitor holds the map pack and you do not, I will point you to the deeper free review for that area rather than repeat it here.
What I need to start
- Your website and business name.
- Up to 3 competitors: websites or Google Maps links. If you are not sure who they are, I take the three that most often appear above you for your keywords.
- Five money keywords: searches that lead to a sale or enquiry, not blog topics.
- Your market: one city, a state or India-wide.
- What you already know, such as "they started ads last month" or "they have more reviews".
Form fields: name, website, competitor 1 to 3, five keywords, market, notes, WhatsApp number. No logins or account access needed; everything is checked from public sources.
The six areas I compare
| Area | What I check for you and each competitor | Where the data comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Keywords | Position for your five money keywords, and other commercial keywords they rank for that you do not | Manual searches on google.co.in for your market, plus third-party tool estimates |
| Pages | Which service, location, pricing and FAQ pages exist; how specific they are | Their sitemaps and site navigation |
| Links | Rough count of linking domains and a few notable links you could also earn | Third-party link index estimates |
| Google Business Profile | Primary category, review count and recency, photos and posts | Public Maps listings |
| Ads presence | Whether they run Google Ads, for which searches, and what the ads say | Google Ads Transparency Center and live searches |
| AI answers | Who ChatGPT and Perplexity name for three buyer prompts | Manual prompts in a fresh session |
Tool numbers for keyword volume and links are estimates and I label them that way. I do not treat a third-party score as fact, and I do not have access to any competitor's Search Console or ad account.
What the comparison document includes
I do not have a redacted example to publish yet. The report is built from these parts.
Side-by-side matrix
One row per area, one column per business, with a short verdict in each cell: ahead, level or behind.
Why they win
For each competitor, the two or three things that explain most of their advantage, in plain words.
Pages they have that you lack
Specific service or location pages worth building, with the keyword each would target.
Gaps to close first
Five actions in order, marked by whether you can do them yourself or need help.
Where it is useful, I note what I would not copy. A competitor ranking on thin city-swap pages, for example, is taking a risk with Google's spam policies, and following them would be a mistake.

When to choose something else
- Comparing against national brands far bigger than you. The gaps will be obvious and not useful; pick competitors at your level.
- More than three competitors or several cities at once.
- Anyone hoping for a competitor's private data, such as their traffic or ad spend. I only use public sources and labelled estimates.
- Businesses that want a full keyword gap list rather than a snapshot; ask about the paid competitor gap analysis.
