Free Google Ads Audit, Done by Hand Inside Your Account

I log into your Google Ads account with read-only access, go through the search terms, conversion tracking, structure, bidding and landing pages myself, and send you a written list of what is wasting money. Every finding is tagged quick win, fix soon or strategic, and the report reaches you within 3 working days of access being granted. To start, share your Customer ID and your monthly spend band on WhatsApp or through the form.

Scope

How this audit differs from my other free audits

This one looks only at your Google Ads account. My free SEO audit covers how your website ranks organically, the free website audit covers speed, usability and conversion friction, and the free digital marketing consultation is a conversation about which channel to prioritise. None of those open your ad account. This one does, and it stays inside it.

Landing pages are checked from one angle only: does the page match the keyword and ad that brought the click.

Before I start

What I need from you

Two things are compulsory: read-only access and an honest spend band. Without access I would be guessing, and without the spend band I cannot judge whether a wasted search term is a rounding error or a real leak.

  • Google Ads Customer ID (the 10-digit number at the top right of your account).
  • Read-only access: in Google Ads go to Admin, then Access and security, add contact@jagmohankurmi.com and choose the Read only access level. You can remove it the moment the report arrives.
  • Monthly spend band: under 25 thousand rupees, 25 thousand to 1 lakh, or above 1 lakh. A range is enough.
  • What counts as a conversion for you: a call, a WhatsApp chat, a form lead, a booking or a sale.
  • One sentence on what a good lead looks like, so I can tell a useful search term from a costly one.

The form asks for exactly these fields: name, business, phone or WhatsApp, Customer ID, spend band, main conversion and a note. Nothing else is required.

Checklist

Exactly what I check in the account

I work through the same list on every account, in this order, because a tracking problem makes every later number unreliable.

1. Conversion tracking

  • Which conversion actions exist, which are set as primary, and whether any are counted twice
  • Whether calls and WhatsApp clicks are tracked or invisible
  • Whether the tag fires on the thank-you step and not on page load

2. Search terms and negative keywords

  • The last 30 to 90 days of search terms, read line by line
  • Irrelevant terms that took budget (jobs, free, training, competitor names you did not intend)
  • Missing negative keyword lists and negatives that block good traffic

3. Structure and match types

  • Campaign and ad group split by service and location
  • Broad match running without Smart Bidding or without conversion data
  • Overlapping keywords that make your own ad groups compete

4. Bidding, budget and settings

  • Bid strategy against the amount of conversion data available
  • Campaigns limited by budget while weaker ones spend freely
  • Location setting (presence vs interest), ad schedule, device and network settings, Display opt-in on Search campaigns

5. Ads, assets and landing page match

  • Responsive search ad coverage and pinned headlines
  • Call, sitelink and location assets
  • Whether each ad group sends people to a page about the thing they searched
  • If Performance Max runs: whether it is absorbing your brand searches

What a search-term and negative keyword audit found for a travel client

Zig-Zag Tours came to me with a cost-per-click problem. The account audit was the first step of the work that followed.

Travel / tour packages · Indore (and pan-India) · 45 days

Zig-Zag Tours & Travels

Before: High cost-per-click with low landing-page booking conversions

What we did: Negative keyword audit, Google Search bid optimisation and a landing page UI/UX redesign

After: 3x verified tour enquiries with a 42% reduction in Google Ads acquisition cost

3.4x ROAS

This was a paid engagement. The free audit is the diagnosis; the fixes were implemented afterwards.

Deliverable

What the written report contains

You get a document, not a dashboard export. I do not have a redacted sample to show yet, so here are the sections it is built from.

Account snapshot

Spend band, active campaigns, bid strategies and the conversion actions that are actually feeding bidding.

Findings list

Each finding names the campaign or setting, explains the cost to you in plain words, and carries one tag: quick win, fix soon or strategic.

Wasted search terms

A short table of the worst terms from your own data with the negative keyword I would add for each.

First-week order

The three or four changes I would make first if this were my money, in sequence.

  • Quick win: a change you can make in under an hour that stops obvious waste, such as adding negatives or fixing a location setting.
  • Fix soon: needs some work, usually tracking or restructuring, within the next two to three weeks.
  • Strategic: a decision about bidding, budget split, landing pages or Performance Max that needs data or a conversation first.
Timeline

The 3 working days, step by step

  1. Step 1 · Day 0

    Access accepted

I confirm on WhatsApp that read-only access works and ask any missing question about your conversions.

  2. Step 2 · Working day 1

    Tracking and search terms

I check conversion actions first, then read the search terms report and mark the waste.

  3. Step 3 · Working day 2

    Structure, bids, ads, pages

Campaign split, match types, settings, assets and landing page match.

  4. Step 4 · Working day 3

    Written report

Report sent by email and WhatsApp. If you want, a short call to walk through it.

Honest fit check

When this audit is not the right fit

  • Brand-new accounts with no spend history. With nothing to read, start with Google Ads strategy instead.
  • Accounts that have not run in the last 30 days, since the search terms report would be stale.
  • Anyone unwilling to give read-only access. Screenshots alone hide the search terms and settings that matter.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ad accounts. This audit is for Google Ads only.
